The work “Whispers in the Breeze” (On-going) is a photographic project, initiated in the summer of 2021, originally prompted by wandering as a pedestrian through Lake Erie. The work began as a pastime that later evolved into a ritual as a means to connect directly with my immediate surroundings at the moment.
It is also the process of self-reflection and self-discovery as an Asian immigrant, exploring the relationship between people, environment and society. It's personal experience and empathy into gentle conversations between human and nature, capturing the poetic and distance of the environment around us. Through photography, we can take the essence of life seriously again and treat people and things around us tenderly. Through my lens, with similar structure, people look tiny in nature scenes, creating an intimate visual experience; most of my photographs were captured outdoors, soft light and harmony color were used in most of my works. Scenes depicted are seemingly ordinary, intertwined with abstract cryptographic details where the image functions as a cipher, in a language of meditation and dreamlike textures.
